The Power of EFT in Addiction Treatment: Insights with Ann Hince

Ann Hince didn’t discover the power of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) until she reached her late 30s, but when she did, it changed her life in ways she couldn’t have imagined.

After years of carrying unresolved childhood trauma and emotional pain, EFT became the key to unlocking her emotional well-being.

Through tapping into her own subconscious and using this powerful technique, Ann has transformed her life and now helps others do the same. Her story highlights how EFT can serve as a tool for healing trauma, regulating emotions, and breaking free from years of emotional suppression.

Her Early Life and Challenges

Ann’s early life was affected by significant trauma. Born with a physical condition that required weeks of therapy, she was placed for adoption into a family that had just suffered a deep emotional loss.

This created a sense of disconnect between her and her adoptive parents, a feeling that followed her throughout her childhood.

By the age of four, she had already experienced a traumatic house fire and, later, the pain of attending a boarding school where she was relentlessly bullied.

The disconnection and unresolved trauma were compounded by her parents' struggles with alcoholism during her teenage years, leaving Ann feeling emotionally isolated.

"I used to say that I lived in hell at home because I couldn’t trust anything they’d say."

These early experiences planted deep emotional scars, ones that Ann carried into adulthood, unaware of the profound impact they were having on her day-to-day life.

The Turning Point

For years, Ann tried to push through the challenges, being affected by her childhood trauma.

It wasn’t until a seemingly minor altercation with other parents at her children’s school that she realised something was deeply wrong.

She couldn’t stop obsessing over the situation, feeling as though her world was spiralling out of control:

"I couldn’t stop thinking about it for three days. That’s when I realised this isn’t normal."

This moment of self-awareness was the turning for Ann’s healing journey. She recognized that her reaction was rooted in her unresolved childhood trauma and decided to seek help.

During a visit to a holistic doctor, she was introduced to EFT, also known as tapping, and everything began to change.

EFT's Impact

EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, is a therapeutic method that involves tapping on specific points on the body while focusing on unresolved emotions or memories.

This tapping helps release emotional blockages, allowing individuals to process their feelings in a healthy and constructive way.

Initially skeptical, Ann gave EFT a try, and after just one session focused on the trauma of finding her mother dead, she felt a significant shift:

"For the first time, I could talk about my mother’s death without breaking into tears."

This rapid change convinced Ann to explore EFT further. She began applying the technique daily, working through emotional memories one by one.

Through consistent practice, she noticed profound changes—not just in how she felt emotionally but in her overall sense of peace and well-being.

The Transformation

As Ann continued using EFT, she started to experience deep emotional release.

By tapping through her childhood traumas, she was able to let go of the negative energy that had been stored in her body for decades. With each tapping session, she felt lighter and more at peace.

Over time, her mind, once filled with self-critical thoughts, became quiet.

Ann also noticed physical changes, including the release of tension in her body. She credits EFT with not only helping her process emotional trauma but also improving her physical health, noting that she even grew three-quarters of an inch after years of holding onto stress and tension in her body.

Lessons from EFT

Ann’s journey with EFT has taught her several important lessons about healing and emotional wellness.

Some key insights include:
- We carry emotions in our bodies: Unprocessed emotions and trauma can manifest physically, causing tension, pain, and other health issues. EFT helps release these emotions, providing both emotional and physical relief.
- You can heal yourself: EFT is an empowering tool because it allows individuals to take charge of their own healing. By tapping on specific points and acknowledging your emotions, you can release the energy that has been holding you back.
- Consistency is key: Healing is a process, and consistency matters. Ann found that tapping daily and addressing one emotional memory at a time helped her make steady progress toward emotional freedom.

What Stood Out to Me

I remember seeing a documentary on Netflix where prince Harry was using EFT technique. It got me curious to learn more about the technique and I am really glad I got to sit down and talk with Ann about her experience.

There are many modalities to trauma therapy and I am glad that EFT has transformed Ann's life and helped her overcome decades of suppressed trauma.

I hope our interview will inspire more people to give EFT a go.

Anna is encouraging people to explore their emotions, release trapped energy, and find peace within themselves. Her story is a reminder that healing is possible—even after years of carrying the weight of past trauma.
